Back in summer of 2010, I shot an image that would be the subject for my first blog post here. It was an early experiment in HDR architectural photography and the focus was on the City of Hull’s most famous art bar, Pave. Following the previous link, you can read the whole story of why and how this images was made and the subsequent acquisition of the finished 50″ canvas by the bar owners, Steve and Sam Shaw.
The Night & Day Event
Fast forward to 2012, and I’m happy to invite friends and colleagues to an evening at Pave bar itself to officially unveil the image on the walls of the very bar that was its inspiration. On Wednesday, 13th of June then, Pave host the ‘Night &Day’ evening. Kicking off at 7.30, it’s a night celebrating art, photography and music too. Entry is free, and there will be also free wine and canapes on arrival. The ‘Night & Day’ evening will have an amazing live line up of musical entertainment too – from vocalist Dan Bryan (showing the more soulful side of his performance palette), guitar virtuoso, Dave Berriman and keyboard wizard, David Barton. In addition, local Hull artist Stuart West will be showcasing his recently mounted artwork on Pave’s walls – you can check him out here. Well, as the Mrs said, “Should be a good night” – so hopefully, we’ll see you there.
PS If you’ve never visited Pave Bar before, take a look below at Pave’s new official Google 360 interactive virtual tour – flick it into fullscreen on your computer and you’ll see just why it’s such an awesome venue
